Writing A Blog Post Because I Want To

It’s been a while since I’ve had the motivation, or even the inspiration, to want to write a blogpost.

I got into the routine of just posting because it was what I thought people wanted to read, rather than posting what I wanted to write. So, I thought I’d start here with just a hello update (there’s been a few of them this year), because I think it’s nice to just have that sense of familiarity with my posts.

Why am I writing this now?

I was in a bit of a rut with my blog. I didn’t know what I wanted from it and I didn’t know what I was really doing with it either. I hit a point where I wanted to just delete it altogether, because I started to fall out of love with it. Perhaps the novelty had worn off, or I’d just moved on from wanting to do it. Who knows?

Anyway, after some prompting by my friend, who told me that it would be sad to delete my memories that I’ve written about so far, I’ve decided to keep going. However, I’ve also decided that I’m not putting any pressure on myself to post. I don’t need to stick to a schedule. I don’t have to post if I don’t want to. I only want to post when I think that I have something worth writing about, or when I think something might be helpful for others to read but again, only if I’m enjoying writing it.

I have learnt that this niche has become pretty saturated with much of the same content, and I’m included in that too. So, I’ve decided to just try to enjoy having my blog, as my outlet or just as an online diary that I can share elements of my life with you, my readers.

An update

ICYMI, I have a brand new logo!

This probably played a big part in my deciding to continue writing on here. It was definitely time for an update, especially with my previous logo showing my motherhood journey which breastfeeding was a big part of!

Don’t get my wrong, I love my old logo. I love that it reflected that part of my life, but now my life as mum is changing. Edith is changing and growing every day, so I think it’s nice that my new logo will show that too. It shows growth. It shows love.

So, I hope you guys love it as much as I do!
A bit about it -

My previous and my newly updated logos were both designed and created by my, in real life, friend Fiona. She’s mega talented and it felt so personal having her make this for me. Fiona, also has an Etsy shop where she has insane pin designs *not an AD by the way, they are just crazy good!* - You’ll find her shop Growing Basil here.

So naturally, I wear a lot of polka dot. Polka dots are my absolute favourite print to wear, especially red and white (you can take a wild guess as to why...).

Edith’s face is also in this one, compared to my last logo. I think it makes it feel much more personal, even though I don’t share Edith online (you can read why I don’t share my daughter online here).

The flowers - daffodils are Edith’s birth month flowers, which is totally fitting considering when she was born, the daffs were starting to bloom. So, whenever I see them I think of her. Unbeknown to Fiona, I love that my new logo has purple flowers around the edges too. Edith went through a stage of calling purple flowers ‘purple pips’ which makes me chuckle.

Anyway, this was possibly a pointless blog post, but it’s the start of starting to post things because I want to post them. So, I hope you enjoy it and I hope you continue to stick around for the ride!
