Parenting Pet Peeves

We all have things that annoy us, don't we? Just little things that we wish wouldn't happen or that people wouldn't do?

Parenting comes with a whole new perspective on life, especially when you just think you would do things a certain way when you have kids, but the reality is so different.

Naturally, I have a lot of things that annoy me when it comes to motherhood, as do many of my readers...

Bus drivers and pushchairs

Oh my gosh, this riles me. This isn't something that I just notice with a pushchair, but I notice it with less able-bodied people too. Bus drivers are so quick to pull off before you've managed to safely get on the bus. The amount of times that Edith has nearly gone flying before I've managed to put the breaks on is beyond a joke.

Unsolicited advice - Em & Me

I think we can all agree that this frustrating! I know I've had my fair share, and I can bet any other parent has too.

People telling your child off because you're related - Em & Me

I like this one. I think unless you've asked for support, I don't think this is necessary. I think it can undermine the parents, even if good intentions are there.

When your child wakes up 10 minutes after you've just put them down, or when you're just drifting off to sleep - Everyday Amy Blog

This is a rough one too. Nobody likes being woken up and the sleep deprivation as a parent is real!

A runny nose. It has to be cleaned ASAP! - Ohmysquats

I'm right there with you Jai. I cannot deal with a runny nose either and it makes me cringe when I see them. When Edith has a cold, I'm constantly chasing her with a snot rag!

Mum Police - we're all in this together! As the saying goes, 'it takes a village to raise a child' - myrainbowandme

Right?! It's hard enough as a parent on some days, let alone when other parents start to point the finger.

Questions such as 'is he a good baby?', 'is he sleeping through yet?' - helenlcifton

Yes! If I had £1 for every time this question was asked...

Feeding/attachment choices. I do what works for my family, thank you. - Chloé Arros Art

Completely agree. Parenting is completely unique to individuals. What works for one family, doesn't necessarily work for another.

People who think their way is the only 'right' way. - Laura_m_alves

Exactly. My last response applies here too.

Being forced into breastfeeding by the midwives, despite not being able to express properly. - Lucyanna

I think this is unfair. I'm a big breastfeeding advocate, which you probably know, but I'd never want someone to feel forced, or upset about having to breastfeed. Every parenting journey is unique.

The cry it out method. - Mrs_sharpstuff

Controversial! Some people swear by it, others hate it. Again, I think it depends on the individual.

When people preach about home made being best, but sometimes life gets in the way and you need pre-made. - Faytrenter

Sometimes needs must and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Edith was very partial to the fruity pouches when she was younger, so if that was a way of her eating, then so be it!

People always asking 'why are you still breastfeeding?'. - Rachael.1786

Yikes. I hear ya!

I think there's an impression that there's a time limit to breastfeeding. There are so many benefits to breastfeeding past one year. I've written a post about breastfeeding a toddler

People parking in parent and child spaces when they have no kids. - Oliver_lottie_and_me

This is one of my big pet peeves and seems to spark a lot of debate. I personally hate when people park in these bays when they don't have children.

I don't care how close to the shops these spaces are, I'd happily walk from one end of the parking lot to the other, but the space is invaluable. It is so hard to get baby car seats out of the car, especially whilst holding the door to stop it from dinking the car next to it. It's also difficult to try and get a toddler in the car whilst they are arching their back and refusing to!

What do you think? Do you have any parenting pet peeves? I know that I can relate to all of these!

Thanks, lovelies.
