August Favourites - A Reflection on August 2019

As regular readers of my blog will know, I love writing these reflection posts. I've only written two before (June & July), and it is nice to be able to sit down and look at the positive things of the months, despite any general stresses that life brings.

So, what did we get up to in August?

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

It's no secret that I love a day out, and so does Edith. She loves being outside and exploring new places. As it was the school summer holidays, some of my family were not at work, so we organised a day out to the zoo (sorry Max!). Edith had such a lovely time. She absolutely loves animals, and certainly loves finding new things.

We had gorgeous weather on our day out too which is always an added bonus. I was quite surprised during the day, as Edith must have got so tired that she needed a nap (she never normally naps during the day if we are out and about!).

Here is a small selection of some of the days photos:

Meeting with Laura & Emily

Now, this is something that has popped up in the last couple of reflections posts, and I'm so glad it has. Seeing Laura and Emily is always a highlight for us. We always have the best time having an actual face-to-face catch up.

This time, we sat in the park for a while, whilst we had a snack and the girls were running around wild. It was gorgeous to watch, especially as Edith has been somewhat reserved in the past! This time, both girls were holding hands and cuddling, and it was lovely.

Another meet up is on the cards very soon!

This month saw me take Edith swimming on my own for the first time!

It's not a secret that swimming has never been my favourite activity to do. I don't like the hassle of getting changed and showered when I'm out, and everything else that goes with swimming. It's just not for me. Although I don't enjoy it, it doesn't mean that Edith shouldn't, so of course, we have taken her swimming before, but we have only been together as a family, but this month saw me going on my own.

Edith is a very active little girl, so part of me was stressing at the thought of having to get us both changed before getting in the water. I was pleasantly surprised at the family changing area, in the swimming pool, as it had the changing seats available which meant that I could pop Edith in that whilst I got changed, without running the risk that she would try to get under the changing cubicles!

Sunflower picking

Again, regular readers will know that I love PYO. We have picked our own pumpkins, and strawberries, so we obviously had to get involved to pick some sunflowers before the end of their season!

We had a lovely time, and Edith, as always, enjoyed being able to walk around and take us in the direction that she chose.

We had left it a little late to visit, as the season was practically over, but we did still manage to pick three nice sunflowers for my kitchen vase!

I wonder what September will bring for us!

Thanks, lovelies.
